On World Environment Day, I brushed my teeth with a plastic toothbrush, drove down to an Environment Day event hosted at a large hotel by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), drank soft drinks served there, bought idlis packed in plastic carry bags from a restaurant, shopped for jeans and lycra probably made in the sweatshops of Vietnam, carried them home in more plastic bags and then, finally ended the day with a meal of packaged instant noodles. Probably, the most eco-friendly thing I did was play cricket in the rain with a bunch of friends!

Environment friendliness is for the rich. The poor can not afford it.
