Omicron and me
Whoever called #Omicron mild must have been a jellyfish without joints. If you've chronic bronchitis like me, it feels like a thousand pine needles grating against your trachea with each breath you take. With each cough, it inflames further and the rapid movement causes capillary bursts. Bruises in the lungs and the legs. Aches in fingers, knees and elbows. Abdominal pains and high fever of 102-3F. Yeah, not mild. Your oxygen might not dip below 90 and you'll not die, but the road to recovery is long for people with chronic conditions. I got the call for RT-PCR from the lab, five days after I first booked a slot (that's how packed they are). They suggested I turn them down if I didn't need it anymore. I did. The doctor said I had ticked all symptoms for Omicron that the test was unnecessary. (The bronchitis had made it look like delta at the beginning.) Shouldn't waste a biometric kit. We already had one who tested positive at home so we're all going to get it, one by one. Finally, after four days, I can get out of bed and stand for a good 10 minutes. Small joys. π
