We didn’t hear the plane land. It must have tiptoed down under cover of the rain. A shape appeared on the other side of the plastic flaps, then a man pushed his way through. Other passengers trickled out after him. Some wheeled only one small bag, barely big enough for a couple of bikinis, while others pushed skyscrapers of belongings, suitcases bulging at the seams and cardboard cartons packed with food.
